We've Got You Covered!
Longmont Little School is now recognized as an independent, non-public school through the Colorado Department of Education and is serving as an umbrella option for homeschool families. Meeting requiremets for state compliance is easy and support is availble for your homeschool. You can enjoy the freedom and flexibility that defines the essence of homeschooling.
What is an Umbrella School?
An umbrella school is a private, non-public school that legally supports homeschool families. By enrolling in an umbrella school, your child is considered a private school student, while you remain the primary educator. The umbrella school provides oversight, record-keeping, and guidance to help families meet state requirements with confidence.

Three Ways to Homeschool in Colorado
1. File a Notice of Intent (NOI)
Families may homeschool independently by filing a Notice of Intent with their local school district. Parents are responsible for all instruction, record-keeping, assessments, and legal compliance.
2. Enroll in an Umbrella School
With an umbrella school, your child is enrolled as a private school student. The school provides administrative oversight, record-keeping, and guidance, while parents remain fully in charge of curriculum and daily learning.
Families enrolled in an umbrella school do not file an NOI. Instruction happens at home, and families follow school policies while enjoying flexibility and support.
3. Homeschool with a Colorado-Licensed Teacher
Families may homeschool under a Colorado-licensed teacher, who assumes responsibility for academics and oversight. No NOI or state reporting is required.
